Daniel Westergaard

Daniel Westergaard believes disciplined investing and thoughtful financial planning should not be reserved for the ultra-wealthy. As Partner, Advisor, and Chief Investment Officer at O’Connor Financial Group, he helps guide the firm’s investment philosophy while working closely with individuals and families to make thoughtful financial decisions and build long-term confidence in their financial lives.

With more than a decade of experience in financial services, Daniel brings an institutional investment perspective to the clients he serves today. Earlier in his career, he worked in Ultra High Net Worth private banking and held roles at two of the world’s largest asset management firms. While those experiences exposed him to highly sophisticated investment strategies, they also reinforced his belief that the same level of disciplined advice should be accessible to more individuals and families building their financial futures.

Daniel believes great advising begins with understanding people, not just portfolios. He takes a client-centered approach that recognizes life, priorities, and goals evolve over time. His favorite part of the work is seeing clients reach milestones that once felt far in the future.

Daniel earned his B.S. in Finance from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University as an Evans Scholar.

He and his wife Hannah, a Creative Director at a creative agency, live in the city of Chicago with their three children—Rory, Anne, and baby Ruthie. Their hands are full and their lives are busy, but they feel deeply grateful and are passionate about the city they call home.

When he’s not working with clients, you can usually find him on a golf course, in the gym, reading, serving at Holy Trinity Church in Chicago, or enjoying summers with family in Michigan.
